This project consists of an existing timber frame structure and adjoining tractor barn and storage loft. The timber frame portion of the house was cleared of all interior partitions to make a vast open space for living and entertaining. The tractor barn and storage loft were converted into a primary bedroom suite resulting in distinctly separated public and private zones for the home. [photography by Durston Saylor]
Also designed for the hilltop site was a new salt-water pool and screened pool house complete with an outdoor stainless steel kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, dining and lounge space for entertaining summertime guests.
The Kent country house comprises 7,700 square feet of renovation and new construction on private site with views down the hill of a nearby pond, wooded area and vistas beyond, making this the perfect secluded retreat for the owners.
